If you haven't read them, the new Harrington books on NL cash games are very helpful for beginning/not-so-great players. I'm going through them and taking notes and studying them now.

Also very thought-provoking is Professional No-Limit Holdem Volume 1, particularly their discussions about how to manage your stack size to pot size ratios to make your decisions easier. Definitely worth a read.

Let me know if you'd like to borrow them. Where's this wiki of yours, btw? ^^

Not exactly true. One or two of the Seoul casinos have poker tables, I hear, but I haven't been out there yet.

I might be headed to HK for a training class next month, so will be more than happy to go check out the new Macau room.

Actually there was one case where we bet on the horse that was going to win.

1,000yen bet paid out 1,100yen. I'm guessing that was a very poor bet to actually make. Better to save your money.

Kind of funny how old guys gambling look the same no matter where in the world you are.

    Thanks!

My university has an English speaking faculty, which I am a part of, but all of the other faculties are Japanese-only. That makes for a very interesting experience since there are tons of students with only a basic grasp of English.

There is one place to play for fun, but when I get the urge to play its all online. Lately, due to all the problems getting money in and out, I haven't been playing at all.

Hey, I was just running through your blog a bit, and I enjoy it. I too will be going to Tokyo for schooling in about 30 days.

I was wondering what school you're attending? And is it English speaking? I am really interested in hearing about that situation. Also, are there any places to play live poker in JPN or do you just play online?

K, thanks alot,
Kagura is quite nice. I also liked going (when I was doing snowboarding) to Joetsu Kokusai, also at Echigo Yuzawa station. Pretty big resort and didn't get too crowded. There was also a run that would get 3 feet of powder on a fresh snow day. Love it.

I don't know why, but seems like most Japanese don't like to ski/snowboard on fresh powder. That run was practically untouched whenever I found it with a meter of fresh powder. Naturally, as a good Coloradan, I made it my mission to mash that powder down, and I spent the rest of the day taking my best shot at it.
